About KIK Kunststofftechnik

KIK Kunststofftechnik from Kleinblittersdorf manufactures filter elements and molded parts from porous polyethylene (HDPE/UHMWPE) under the designation PE-porös. Production takes place in a special sintering process in which plastic granules are heated until their surfaces soften and fuse at the contact surfaces; the resulting molded body has open, continuous pores. Filter media are produced in almost any geometry and filtration ratings from 1 µm to well over 100 µm – as filter tubes, filter cartridges, filter rods and capillaries, filter plates, filter discs, as well as custom molded parts that are sintered directly into shape. In addition to the filtration of liquids and gases, the porous molded bodies are used for venting and aeration, storage of media and sound attenuation, for example in the chemical industry, food and drinking water technology, medical and laboratory technology, automotive engineering and pneumatics. Surface modifications (hydrophilic, hydrophobic, antibacterial, antistatic) and fillers such as activated carbon or molecular sieves extend the range of applications; for more demanding requirements, partnerships exist for porous alternatives made of glass, ceramic and metal.

Materials & Processes

PE-porös

Porous polyethylene (HDPE/UHMWPE)

Sintered plastic with open continuous pores for liquid and gas filtration, venting and aeration, storage and attenuation.

AST

PE-porös antistatic (FDA)

High operational safety in the separation of critical, explosive dusts without impairment of the filtration properties.

Füllung

PE-porös filled (activated carbon, molecular sieves)

Filled products for extended applications, e.g. adsorption.

Modifier

Surface modification (hydrophilic, hydrophobic, antibacterial)

Filter elements adapted to the respective media and application conditions.

Glas/Keramik/Metall

Porous alternatives in glass, ceramic and metal

For requirements beyond the properties of porous sintered plastics, realized with specialized cooperation partners.

Quality & Conformities

KIK characterizes filter elements by mean pore sizes (maximum of the pore distribution); a narrow pore distribution is targeted as a quality feature. Named conformities are DIN EN 60335 Class M, EN 1822 Class H10 as well as FDA / Regulation (EC) 10/2011.
