The small brewery Kleinbrauerei Stiär Biär AG is a brewery based in Altdorf in the canton of Uri. The first beer was produced in 2005 at the Bäckerei Herger Max bakery by Max Herger and Mario Muther; in September 2005, Stiär Biär was registered as officially the 212th brewery in Switzerland. The starting point was a beer tasting that met with great response and motivated further beer production. Since production with the simplest means was time-consuming and demand grew, a small brewery public limited company was later founded. All beers are unfiltered, contain no chemical additives and are brewed with fresh spring water from the Uri mountains. The brewery offers beer with its own labels (Myys Biär), tours with tasting, and a shop in Altdorf.
