About the Association
KlinikClowns Bayern e.V. is a non-profit association based in Freising that has been bringing laughter to sick and care-dependent people through professional clown visits since 1998. Around 76 clowns regularly visit children, senior citizens, people with disabilities and seriously ill adults, including on palliative wards and in hospices, at 126 facilities throughout Bavaria. The clowns are artistically trained in the performing arts and receive ongoing training in clowning techniques, improvisation, and knowledge of illness and care. The association is funded exclusively through donations and partnerships and is quality-assured through an ethical code, supervision and a scientific advisory board. With more than 48,000 visits to over 1.69 million people to date, the association is the largest hospital clown association in Germany.
