About Klosterbrauerei Kemnath

The Klosterbrauerei Kemnath is a family-run private brewery in Kemnath in the Upper Palatinate (district of Tirschenreuth). Its origins lie in the Franciscan monastery founded in 1660, whose brothers brewed beer for their own use. After secularisation in 1802, the brewing tradition was continued as a private business. The brewery produces bottom- and top-fermenting beer specialities according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, and also produces lemonades, juices and juice spritzers from regional raw materials. The beers mature for weeks in the cold storage cellar. Filling takes place in NRW beer bottles with crown cork closures; on behalf of Speinshart Monastery, the Speinsharter Klosterbier is brewed.
