About Klosterbrauerei Machern
Klosterbrauerei Machern was founded in 2004 in the former Cistercian nunnery of Machern, a listed historical monument on the left bank of the Moselle in Bernkastel-Kues (Wehlen). The regionally rooted brewery produces around 2500 hl of naturally cloudy beer specialties annually from water, malt and hops. The beers are sold in retail outlets within a radius of roughly 50 km and served in restaurants. The brewery includes a large brewery inn with a beer garden, a beer shop and a 24-hour beer crate vending machine located directly at the brewery. The extensive baroque building complex, which was opened to the public in 2004 after comprehensive fundamental renovation, is one of the tourist attractions of the Middle Moselle and, in addition to the brewery, houses wine cellars, a distillery and a museum, among other things.
