About the Brewery
Koblenzer Brauerei (formerly Königsbacher Brauerei GmbH & Co KG) was a brewery in Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate. Since its founding in 1689, a tradition of beer brewing had been maintained in the Altes Brauhaus in Koblenz's historic old town. The former company name derives from the Königsbach, a small river near Koblenz whose clear water was suitable for brewing beer. The product range included, among others, Pilsener, Export, Kellerbier, Radler, Mai-Bock and Fest-Bock. In 1992 the brewery was taken over by the Karlsberg Group; in 2010 the brands went to the Bitburger Brewery, and in 2012 a relaunch followed under the name Koblenzer. After another insolvency proceeding in November 2023, the brewery was definitively closed on 31 January 2024, as no new investors could be found.
