About König Ludwig Schloss Brewery Kaltenberg

König Ludwig GmbH & Co. KG Schloss Brewery Kaltenberg is a mid-sized Bavarian brewery headquartered in Fürstenfeldbruck. It emerged from the Kaltenberg castle brewery and traces back to the House of Wittelsbach, which operated a first brewery as early as 1260. Beer is produced under the König Ludwig, Kaltenberg and Holzkirchner Oberbräu brands, including wheat beers, Dunkel, Hell, Pils and Bock beers. The brewery operates production sites in Fürstenfeldbruck (Marthabräu, administration and the majority of production), at Kaltenberg Castle and in Holzkirchen (Oberbräu). In 2004, around 340,000 hl were brewed, of which 100,000 hl in Kaltenberg. Since 2001, the company has been a 50/50 joint venture between Luitpold Prince of Bavaria and the Warsteiner brewery; via König Ludwig International GmbH & Co. KG, licensing rights for worldwide brewing and distribution of the Kaltenberg brand are granted. Products are sold ex-dock and delivered to gastronomy, beverage trade and end customers.
