About the Kofferfabrik

The Kofferfabrik is a private cultural centre in Fürth that has been operated since 1994 in a former factory building on Lange Straße in Fürth's Oststadt district, on the city border with Nuremberg. The building, dating from the mid-19th century, is one of the last surviving industrial structures in the city area and today houses a pub, a beer garden, a gallery and four open stages. The programme includes concerts from jazz and classical to blues and rock, theatre performances, poetry slams, cabaret, readings, as well as regular formats such as pub quizzes and games evenings. The venue is run by the Kulturverein Kofferfabrik e.V. for the live music events and by Kofferfabrik GastroKultur GmbH for the catering operations, including a weekly international brunch. In addition, the gallery and MusicClub are available for celebrations, corporate events, seminars and conferences with catering and conference technology.

History

1. 1931

   Suitcase factory BERMAS (founded in Fürth in 1919) takes over the former factory building of the mirror factory Winkler & Kütt on Lange Straße

2. 1945

   Building severely damaged in an air raid on the night of 20 to 21 February

3. 1947

   Passage opened from Lange Straße to the inner courtyard (today's main entrance); production relocated to Erbendorf

4. 1992

   Head office and warehouse finally move out of the site

5. 1994

   Opening of the Kofferfabrik as a private cultural centre on 4 August (initially as interim use)

6. 2024
