kommod GmbH from Freyung in the Bavarian Forest develops and sells simple, practical small furniture made from solid wood and metal for everyday use, including clothes ladders, coat racks, console tables, seating, hooks, shelves, tables and accessories. The products are predominantly made by hand in workshops for people with disabilities in Germany, in close cooperation with the wood workshop of the Wolfsteiner Werkstätten in Freyung. The furniture is made mainly from domestic woods such as oak, ash and steamed beech; the raw timber usually comes from regional sawmills or FSC-certified timber companies. Wooden round rods, the basis of many products, are custom-made to specification up to two meters long by the company Ortinger e. K. Surfaces are left natural or treated with a natural, saliva-resistant oil. Shipping takes place from the company headquarters in Freyung in space-saving packaging, climate-neutral via DHL, mostly to Germany and Austria.
