About KONI

KONI B.V. is a shock absorber and suspension system manufacturer specializing in chassis technology, headquartered in Oud-Beijerland, Netherlands. Founded in 1857 and part of the US industrial group ITT (NYSE: ITT) since 1972, the company developed the first adjustable hydraulic shock absorber and the patented FSD technology (Frequency Selective Damping), a purely mechanical, frequency-selective valve mechanism without electronics; over 70 million FSD valves have been delivered to OEMs. The product portfolio includes dampers for passenger cars, motorhomes, offroad vehicles (including EXPLORER in 2-inch aluminium monotube design), commercial vehicles, motorsport, rail vehicles (Type 05 up to 15 kN, Type 06 up to 25 kN, each with a service life of ≥1.5 million km) as well as hydro-pneumatic HYDRORIDE suspension systems for defense vehicles up to 75 tonnes with nitrogen spring and rhms vehicle level control. Production takes place in Oud-Beijerland and Hebron, Kentucky (USA); three IRIS-certified Railway Service Centers in the Czech Republic, China and North America offer damper refurbishment (ReUse, RePair, ReFurbish, ReCycle) with a maximum lead time of four weeks. Every production damper undergoes a 100% performance test of the force-velocity characteristic before delivery.

Materials & Processes

Al

Aluminium

Material used for the monotube cylinders of offroad dampers (e.g. EXPLORER 2-inch aluminium monotube) and HYDRORIDE systems.

Stahl

Steel

Material component in damper manufacturing according to production process information.

N2

Nitrogen

High-pressure gas spring medium of the hydro-pneumatic HYDRORIDE suspension with progressive spring rate.

FSD

FSD valve technology (Frequency Selective Damping)

Patented, purely mechanical frequency valve with a parallel oil flow path that automatically distinguishes between low and high excitation frequencies.

HYDRORIDE

HYDRORIDE hydro-pneumatic suspension

Integrated system combining damping, load support and level control with nitrogen spring, anti-roll control and RHMS.
