About Philips
Koninklijke Philips N.V., headquartered in Amsterdam, is a Dutch manufacturer of electrical appliances and health technology. Founded in 1891 by Frederik and Gerard Philips in Eindhoven, the company began with the production of light bulbs and evolved through radio, audio and television technology into a globally active technology group. Today's focus is on two areas: Personal Health with household appliances such as shavers, electric toothbrushes, IPL devices and mother-and-child products, as well as Health Systems with professional medical technology, in particular patient monitoring, ultrasound, diagnostic and clinical informatics and image-guided therapy. The Domestic Appliances division was sold to the Hillhouse Capital Group in 2021; consumer electronics (audio, TV) are manufactured by TPV Technology under license. For the medical technology sector, Hamburg has been the headquarters of Philips Medical Systems since 1927, complemented by a branch in Böblingen. Services include a Customer Services Portal for fleet and service management as well as the educational offering Philips Education Services.
