About KPG Rotating Solutions
Kownatzki GmbH & Co.KG is an independent family business founded in 1965, based in Wehr (Baden-Württemberg), specializing in the manufacture of gears and drive elements of the highest precision – both as one-off parts and in series production. The manufacturing spectrum includes spur, worm and chain sprockets up to Ø 2000 mm, gear flank grinding from module 1 to 30, ground internal gearing, gear racks up to module 50, bevel gears as well as assemblies and special gearboxes up to 10 t in weight. Materials processed include steels (structural steel, case-hardening/heat-treatable steel, stainless steel, tool steel), aluminium, titanium, brass, copper, nickel alloys such as Inconel, cast iron, cast steel, ceramics as well as plastics and composite materials. In addition to manufacturing, the company offers engineering with digital twins and simulation, as well as OEM-independent service and maintenance of turbo generators and gearboxes, including a self-developed pole connector repair process. Customers include, among others, the energy industry, plant and heavy machinery engineering, shipbuilding as well as aerospace.

Materials and processes
Case-hardening/heat-treatable steel
Standard material for highly stressed gears and drive elements.
Stainless steel (corrosion-resistant)
For corrosion-exposed drive components.
Nickel alloys (Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy)
For thermally and mechanically highly stressed components, e.g. in turbomachinery engineering.
Cast iron and cast steel
For housing parts and large drive components.
Titanium and titanium alloys
For lightweight, high-strength components e.g. in aerospace.
Brass (copper-zinc alloy)
For bearing, worm and sliding elements.
Fibre-reinforced plastics (GRP/CFRP)
For lightweight, low-wear gearing and drive components.
Gear flank grinding module 1–30
Up to Ø 2000 mm for the highest gearing qualities.
Worms and worm gears
Ground up to quality 2, up to Ø 2000 mm.
Gear measurement
Testing up to 2500 mm length, Ø 1600 mm and 750 kg on the Höfler EMZ 1300/1600 gear measuring machine.
