About KRUG Expedition
KRUG Expedition GmbH is an Austrian manufacturer of expedition vehicles based in Schladming. The company produces living modules for off-road trucks as one-off projects (Custom Projects), series modules with over 25 layout variants, as well as empty modules, and supports customers in selecting and procuring suitable chassis. All modules are produced in-house: reinforced sandwich panels with 60 mm thickness (floor panel 80 mm) with a rigid PU foam core and vacuum-infused glass fiber epoxy laminates; outer laminates with 70 % glass fiber content and 2 mm thickness, inner laminates with a gelcoat surface. Structural parts such as corner caps are manufactured by GRP molding, and the subframe is made of high-strength galvanized steel with a multi-point mounting system and elastomer buffers. The company was founded in 2011 and has completed over 200 projects, including 35 builds in 2022. Its locations comprise production and service in Schladming (AT), a branch office in Baden-Baden, a partner office in Eisenach, and representations in Cheyenne (WY) and West Valley City (UT, USA). In 2024, the BEDROCK XT2 was introduced in the USA in cooperation with Arctic Trucks.

Materials & Processes
Rigid polyurethane foam (core insulation)
Core insulation of the sandwich panels; 60-mm panels offer an insulation value comparable to a 300-mm timber wall.
Glass fiber epoxy laminate (outer laminates)
70 % glass fiber content, 2 mm thick, cross-woven layers for higher tensile strength and impact resistance than standard GRP.
GRP laminate with gelcoat (inner laminates)
Lower glass content and thick gelcoat layer for a smooth interior surface at reduced weight.
High-strength galvanized steel (subframe)
Subframe made of high-strength steel, galvanized inside and outside and painted externally, with elastomer- or spring-cushioned multi-point mountings.
Toughened safety glass
Pre-stressed, tempered panes for windows, tested for low air pressure at high altitudes.
HPL decorative laminates
Visible surfaces, worktops and flooring in the interior.
EPDM bellows
Flexible pass-through to the cab with quick-release closure.
