Headquartered in Appenzell (Switzerland), the KUK Group is a contract manufacturer of custom coil windings, electromagnetic assemblies and electronic manufacturing services (EMS). The company produces coils, transformers, sensors and complete assemblies including motors in all shapes, dimensions and batch sizes. Wires from 0.010 mm are processed; windings are performed on coil bobbins, as self-supporting air-core coils with self-bonding wire, as orthocyclic windings or as edgewise winding with flat wire, also directly on magnetic cores from 0.3 mm minimum diameter. The vertical range of manufacture includes injection moulding of coil bobbins, overmoulding with connectors, potting, PCB assembly on SMD and THT lines, cable welding, assembly as well as quality inspection. Around 90 % of production runs on in-house developed winding machines; tools and automation lines are manufactured in-house. Customers come from automotive, industrial/drive technology, medical technology & sensors as well as defence. The group operates seven production and sites in Switzerland, France, the Netherlands (2), Slovakia, China, Thailand and Tunisia with around 1000 employees and an annual capacity of over 200 million wound coils, over 1 million modules and over 1 million assembled printed circuit boards.
