Kunststoff- und Umwelttechnik GmbH (KUG), based in Forst/Lausitz, is active in engineering for plant construction. Its core business is synthesis gas plants for the thermal utilization of biomass and waste. The plant produces a high-calorific, natural-gas-like product gas as well as coke, which can be used for power generation in gas engines or turbines, for burner systems for process heat and steam generation, and as a substitute for natural gas. The plants are optimized for utilization throughputs of 25 to 100 kt/a and target small and medium-sized as well as municipal companies in the waste management and energy sectors. In addition to the synthesis gas plants, KUG offers chemical gas processes, a pilot plant, and innovation projects. The plant is flexible with respect to a broad spectrum of feedstocks and insensitive to fluctuations in calorific value, moisture, and grain size, so that the effort required for upstream material preparation remains low.
