Kunzler Fleischwaren is a family-run company founded in 1896, based in Überherrn in the Saarland, and specializes in the production and marketing of meat and sausage products. Fresh products are made daily at the Überherrn production facility, combining the art of the butcher's craft with modern manufacturing conditions. The company is best known for its homemade Lyoner sausage and Viennese sausages; in addition, various branded product lines with their own recipes and flavor profiles are offered. The sausage products are distributed through the company's own butcher shops in Germany and France, through its own grocery supermarkets (EDEKA Kunzler, operated as Neu Handels KG since 1991) and through traditional food retail, especially EDEKA. An own vehicle fleet enables reliable, flexible and fast delivery to customers in both countries. With around 1,000 employees, the company is one of the largest employers in the Saarland.

1. 1896

   Peter Kunzler opens his first butcher shop in Überherrn

2. 1913

   With the first motorized delivery van, goods are delivered across the border to Eastern France for the first time

3. 1947

   After wartime destruction, new cold storage rooms, production and smoking halls are built

4. 1954

   Kunzler becomes the largest employer in the municipality of Überherrn

5. 1991

   Opening of the first own grocery supermarkets (EDEKA Kunzler, as Neu Handels KG)
