Asphalt mix for northern Baden and the Kurpfalz region

Kurpfälzische Asphaltmischwerke GmbH & Co. KG (KAM) has been a manufacturer of bituminous mix and the associated construction materials since 1971. The company produces hot rolled asphalt, mastic asphalt, low-temperature asphalt, open-graded asphalt (drainage asphalt) and stone mastic asphalt for the complete pavement structure of traffic areas. The product range also includes road construction materials such as bitumen emulsions, tack coats, joint sealing strips, hot- and cold-pour compounds, rail pouring compounds and cold asphalt, as well as special construction materials such as coloured asphalt and semi-rigid surface courses with flowing mortar infill. The asphalts are used primarily in road, bridge and hydraulic engineering, for screeds in building construction and for sealing applications in landfill and hydraulic engineering. Production takes place at three modern asphalt mixing plants in Bruchsal, Heidelberg and Mannheim; the company delivers orders from Karlsruhe via the Palatinate to the Rhein-Neckar district. An in-house laboratory with testing equipment safeguards the quality of the mix formulations.

Mix types and raw materials

WA

Hot rolled asphalt

For base, binder and surface courses as well as stone mastic asphalt, among other things for federal highways and motorways.

GA

Mastic asphalt

Hot asphalt with liquid processing properties for high-quality surfaces indoors and outdoors as well as bridge superstructures.

NTA

Low-temperature asphalt

Reduces emissions, vapours and aerosols and lowers energy consumption during production.

OPA

Open-graded asphalt (drainage asphalt)

Minimises rolling noise and absorbs rainwater; also water-permeable for surfaces capable of infiltration.

KA

Cold asphalt

For rapid pothole repair and maintenance of traffic areas.

FA

Coloured asphalt

With special binders and colour pigments for architectural design of traffic areas and footpaths.

HSD

Semi-rigid surface courses

Void-rich skeleton structure, filled with special flowing mortar, for heavily loaded industrial areas.

SB

Road construction materials

Bitumen emulsions, tack coats, joint sealing strips as well as hot- and cold-pour compounds for maintenance.

SVM

Rail pouring compounds

Pouring compounds for applications in track construction.

B

Bitumen / polymer-modified bitumen

Binders of the asphalt mixes, classified by softening point and needle penetration.

GK

Mineral aggregates

Natural aggregates as the basis of the mix formulations.
