Spring manufacturing since 1973
Kurt Kauffmann Technische Federn develops and manufactures custom technical springs and wire bending parts – no catalog products. The product range includes compression springs (wire diameter 0.1–9.0 mm), valve springs (1.5–7.5 mm), extension springs (0.15–4.5 mm), torsion springs/garter springs, wave springs, rings, wire bending parts (up to 12.0 mm), busbars for e-mobility and dowel reinforcements for railway sleepers. Materials processed include carbon wires, stainless and oil-tempered wires, non-ferrous spring wires, titanium alloys, special alloys as well as copper and bronze wires. The in-house manufacturing depth ranges from its own development department to coiling, heat treatment, grinding, shot peening, nitriding (KIHT process), setting (cold and hot) through to assembly manufacturing such as wave spring packs and extension spring assemblies for aircraft landing gear. Customers include automotive, e-mobility, aerospace, rail and railway construction, furniture industry, electronics, medical technology, motorsport and white goods. Production takes place at the Weinstadt-Beutelsbach (Baden-Württemberg) and Nyúl (Hungary) sites; since 2026 the company has been part of the Sauter Group.

Materials and processes
Carbon wires
Base material for compression, extension and torsion springs and wire bending parts.
Stainless wires
For springs with corrosion requirements, e.g. furniture and medical technology applications.
Oil-tempered wires
For valve springs with exceptional cleanliness and surface quality.
Titanium alloys
For extension springs and assemblies in the aerospace sector, e.g. aircraft landing gear.
Copper wire (coated/uncoated)
For busbars in charging and discharging units of electric vehicles.
Bronze wire
Alternative material for busbars.
Non-ferrous spring wires
Non-ferrous spring wires for corrosion and temperature requirements.
Structural steels
For dowel reinforcements, e.g. railway sleepers.
Special alloys
For demanding aerospace and motorsport applications.
Nitriding and multiple shot peening (KIHT process)
Innovative surface treatment for increasing service life, among others of valve springs.
