About KWD Automotive
KWD Automotive Group is a mid-sized, internationally operating group of companies in the automotive supply industry that produces individual body components and body assemblies for vehicle construction. The product portfolio includes pressed and drawn parts, welded assemblies, exhaust systems, oil pans, plastic-steel composites as well as body structures, seat and backrest structures, interior doors, instrument panel carriers, axle parts, engine and transmission mounts and battery housings. Processes include pressing & stamping, body-in-white, roll forming, stretch bending, laser cutting and laser welding as well as joining methods such as clinching, flanging, riveting and bonding. Production is predominantly from steel, high-strength steel, stainless steel and aluminium; a key focus is on lightweight construction concepts for weight reduction in vehicle construction, also using magnesium and composite materials. The group develops components from design through to series maturity and supplies, among others, the Volkswagen Group and Daimler AG. The company originated from the coachbuilding workshop founded by Carl Heinrich Gläser in Dresden in 1864; today the group comprises six sites in Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic and China, with headquarters in Wolfsburg.
