KWT Hydro Anlagenbau GmbH, based in Bretten, is a plant manufacturer specialising in hydropower and an operator partner. The company emerged in the early 1980s from the operation of a hydropower plant, initially as a pure mechanical engineering operation, and today covers all areas relevant to a hydropower plant in an interdisciplinary manner with its divisions Paper (planning), Concrete (civil and hydraulic engineering), Iron (mechanics) and Copper (electrical engineering). Its range of services extends from planning through turnkey partial and complete solutions to operation, maintenance and the technical and commercial optimisation of existing plants. Trash rack panels are manufactured in-house, among other things by drop-head welding, with a pitch error of less than 0.05 mm; in addition, the company develops and manufactures power electronics for continuous operation as well as its own products such as a patented bar profile for trash rack cleaners. Customers include operators from the public utilities sector.
