kyla Holzdesign is a family business founded in 2022 by four siblings (Karl, Lydia, Leon, and Benjamin Simko) with its headquarters in Kassel. The company develops and manufactures the Ambient Oslo design table lamp, which combines precious solid wood from domestic forests with modern functionality: a touch dimmer and a 10 W charging module for wireless, MagSafe-compatible inductive charging of smartphones. The entire production takes place in its own factory in Germany – from the CNC milling of the woods by production member Benjamin Simko to the assembly of the electronics by Leon Simko. Domestic wood species such as walnut, oak, and ash are used, none of which are endangered; the light is generated by two LED strips behind double-sided frosted real glass. The target groups are in the fields of design lighting, consumer electronics, and home accessories. After a successful Kickstarter campaign until 07.12.2023, the online shop started in early 2024.
