About the LAG Spiel und Theater NRW

The Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Spiel und Theater Nordrhein-Westfalen e. V. is the umbrella organization for theatrical play in cultural youth work in North Rhine-Westphalia. The non-profit association is based at its own theater education center, „manufactur“, in Herford; in addition to its focus in East Westphalia-Lippe, it has another location in Cologne, where a regional working group develops and runs theater projects and professional events. Its tasks include the development and execution of children's and youth theater projects and groups, mobile theater projects in rural regions and urban districts lacking adequate cultural education offerings, and the organization of festivals and theater gatherings. Another important area is the advisory and further training of professionals: since 1997, the 2.5-year further training program “Basic Training in Theater Pedagogy” has been held regularly and is recognized under the guidelines of the Federal Association of Theater Pedagogy (BuT). As a recognized youth welfare organization, the association receives funds from the Children and Youth Promotion Plan of the Ministry for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Refugees and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, the LAG is engaged in prevention and protection concept work in cultural education.
