LARU GmbH, based in Bottrop, is a food company specializing in the production of lard and, as a branded goods company, belongs to the Darling Ingredients Group. Founded in 1939 and originally family-run, the company produces pork and goose fat as well as derived lard specialties such as crackling lard, onion lard, herb lard and goose broth lard, and is considered the only manufacturer of pork and goose fat operating nationwide in Germany. Production combines traditional recipes with modern, efficient processes; the products are described as all-natural and are packaged in various container sizes, including 2-kg trays, 10-kg buckets and 12.5-kg cartons. Customers include food retail, food wholesale and the foodservice industry. In addition to the LARU brand, the sister brand Vada supplies the wholesale trade with beef-based frying fats. The product portfolio also includes beef tallow and frying fats.
