About LAS-CAD
LAS-CAD GmbH, based in Munich, is an engineering company that develops and distributes the software LASCAD (Laser Cavity Analysis and Design). The program package combines several simulation modules for the design of laser resonators: thermal and structural finite element analysis (FEA) of thermal effects in laser crystals, ABCD Gaussian Beam Propagation including Thermal Lensing and Gain Guiding, Dynamic Multimode and Q-switch Analysis (DMA), as well as 3D Wave Optics Beam Propagation with diffraction and gain saturation. Among other things, this makes it possible to calculate the nonlinear interaction of thermal and optical fields, efficiency and output power, multimode competition, beam profile and beam quality, as well as pulse shape and pulse energy in Q-switch operation. Target groups are laser manufacturers and research institutes for laser technology worldwide. In addition to software and numerical calculations of lasers and laser resonators, the company also offers training courses in optical system design with ZEMAX.
