About LaTherm Energie AG

LaTherm Energie AG, headquartered in Dortmund, develops and distributes patented mobile heat storage units for the use of waste heat. Waste heat from combined heat and power plants, biogas and waste incineration plants as well as industrial processes is fed into the transportable storage containers at the point where it is generated, transported by truck to the consumer and delivered there on demand - a so-called mobile district heating network. The salt sodium acetate is used as the storage medium, which has a high storage capacity and is considered particularly environmentally friendly. After discharge, the containers are transported back to the waste heat source for reloading; the fill level of the storage units can be retrieved at any time via remote access. Customers are heat consumers with large heating requirements such as swimming pools, school centers and logistics halls; connection to source and consumer is simple via a universal hose connection. The technology reduces primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent. The company became part of the KTG Group in 2013 through full acquisition by KTG Energie AG (Hamburg) and has been operating as LaTherm Energie AG since then.
