About LEAG
LEAG (Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG) is a German energy company headquartered in Cottbus with around 6,500 employees at more than 20 energy and industrial sites in Brandenburg, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG is responsible for lignite extraction in the three active Lusatian open-cast mines as well as the refining of the raw material into briquettes and lignite dust at the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park. Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG operates four lignite-fired power plants with around 7,500 MW of installed capacity (Jänschwalde, Schwarze Pumpe, Boxberg, Lippendorf), which provide electricity, district heating and process steam in combined heat and power, as well as the gas-fired power plants Thyrow (approx. 150 MW), Ahrensfelde (approx. 120 MW) and Leipheim (300 MW). In addition, the group produces wood pellets in plants in Wismar, Schwedt, Oranienbaum and Löbau as well as in Sweden and Latvia, with an annual production of around 450,000 tonnes. Through LEAG Gigawatt GmbH with its subsidiaries LEAG Renewables, LEAG Clean Power and LEAG Biomass, the company develops and operates wind and photovoltaic installations, large-scale battery storage systems, substations and H2-ready gas-fired power plants. Subsidiaries such as Energy Cubes, LandWerte Immobilien, GMB, TSS Logistik, MCR Lausitz and SERO Lausitz complement the portfolio with energy services, site development, special civil engineering, logistics and recycling.

Fuels and Products
Lignite
Raw fuel from the company's own Lusatian open-cast mines for electricity, heat and steam generation as well as for refining into briquettes and dust.
Natural gas
Fuel for the flexibly dispatchable gas-fired power plants Thyrow, Ahrensfelde and Leipheim for grid stabilization.
Hydrogen (planned)
Future energy carrier for the gradual conversion of the H2-ready gas-fired power plants.
Wood pellets (ENplus A1/B, ISO 17225-2)
Biogenic fuel made from residual wood, produced under high pressure without chemical binders.
Biomass
Raw material basis for pellet production from sawmill and harvest products.
FGD gypsum
By-product of flue gas desulfurization in the power plants.
