Lessau & Ludwig GmbH is a medium-sized elevator company based in the Am Vogelherd industrial park in Ilmenau (Thuringia). Founded in 1990, the company plans and installs new systems for hydraulic elevators and traction elevators (traction sheave technology) as well as freight and goods elevators with load capacities from 50 kg to 10 t, accessibility elevators and automatic doors with safety systems from Besam Dieburg. Further service areas include modernization of existing systems, maintenance, servicing and repair as well as emergency call-outs around the clock, 365 days a year. The service portfolio also includes ZÜS inspections, electrical inspections in accordance with DGUV V3 and the preparation of risk assessments in accordance with BetrSichV. The 13-person team of mechatronics and electronics specialists serves customers primarily in Thuringia and neighboring federal states such as Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Bavaria and Hesse – from residential buildings to hotels, hospitals and offices, through to scientific institutions and industry. The company is a member of the Vereinigung mittelständiger Aufzugsunternehmen (VMA) and a recognized training company of the Chamber of Crafts and the IHK Erfurt.

Drive types and processes
Hydraulic drive
Hydraulic elevators with cylinder drive are mainly used in buildings with low lifting heights and score points with lower acquisition and maintenance costs.
Traction elevator (traction sheave technology)
Traction sheave elevators with steel ropes and counterweight are suitable for large lifting heights and high speeds above 1.0 m/s, even without a machine room.

Predecessor organization: A cooperative operates an elevator department.
- 1990
Founded on 01.05.1990 by Hans Lessau and master electrician Eycke Ludwig with 5 employees; spin-off from the cooperative.

Relocation on 01.05.2005 to the Am Vogelherd industrial park, Ilmenau; from 01.07.2005 Frank Lessau and Eycke Ludwig took over the management, Hans Lessau retired.
