LIGAMED® medical Produkte GmbH was founded in 1984 and is based in Cadolzburg in the Nuremberg metropolitan region, known as the "Medical Valley". The company pioneered the introduction of wound dressings and bandages made of PUR foam, which are now part of the standard repertoire of many dressing manufacturers. The core product is LIGASANO®, a therapeutically effective polyurethane foam dressing in white, orange, and green variants, used for wound cleaning (mechanical debridement), wound treatment, pressure ulcer prophylaxis, positioning, and NPWT (Negative Pressure Wound Therapy). The foam was developed for medical application in cooperation with Prof. Dr. med. Gerhard Weber, then Chief Physician of the Dermatology Clinic at Klinikum Nürnberg. The products are used in wound care and nursing, in podology and diabetology, as well as in veterinary medicine. LIGASANO® products are manufactured in Germany and distributed worldwide.
