About Lignopure

Lignopure is a company founded in 2019 as a spin-off of the Technical University of Hamburg that converts non-food biomass into high-quality, biodegradable biopolymers. At its core is a patented particle technology used to process lignin from residual materials of the pulp and bioethanol industries into applications. From a single raw material, Lignopure develops application-oriented lignin products: the cosmetic ingredient LignoBase, particles for Paints & Coatings and Nutraceuticals, as well as material prototypes such as insulation materials, biobased polyurethane foams, aerogels and filaments for 3D printing. Services include spray drying, powder processing, prototyping and scale-up for lignin and other biopolymers. The commercial demo production plant is located in the Sirius Business Park in Buxtehude; the headquarters are in Hamburg-Harburg. The facility, with hygienic wet and dry areas, a filling area and a QC laboratory, is listed in the Pilots4U/CoPilot database for pilot and scale-up capacities.
