About Linear Abrasive
Linear Abrasive Engineering S.A. develops and manufactures at its headquarters in Marin (Switzerland) through-feed grinding machines for continuous surface grinding, profile grinding and magnet grinding as well as brushing and cut-off machines and grinding units. The starting point was a machine development by Alfred Schlaefli for the ferrite industry: a through-feed machine that combines vertical and horizontal spindles on a reinforced cast-iron frame and was patented in Europe and the USA. The company covers the entire value chain, from technical design and software development through in-house mechanical manufacturing of more than 80% of machine parts to assembly, wiring and completion at the Marin site. Customers are found in demanding industries such as the automotive industry, the electrical, photovoltaic and tool industries as well as the ferrite and telecommunications sectors. Applications include, among others, surface grinding of connecting rods, compressor plates and gear racks as well as profile grinding of pump blades, also in carbon. A sales office in Speyer serves Germany and Austria; customer service completes the range of services. The plant had a photovoltaic roof (30 kW) and a wood-fired heating system.

Materials and Processes
Cast iron/reinforced concrete composite frame
Massive frame that ensures the high rigidity required for through-feed grinding; design patented in Europe and the USA.
Carbon (CFRP)
Machining in continuous profile grinding, e.g. pump blades made of carbon.
Ferrite (magnet material)
Target material of the original machine development for continuous grinding of magnets with precise air gap.
