About us

Lippmann German Ropes GmbH & Co. KG is a Hamburg rope maker that has been run in the family for seven generations since 1850. The company produces laid ropes on its own 342-meter-long ropewalk and braided ropes on modern braiding machines. The diameter range spans from 0.1 to 200 mm; production takes place exclusively in its own facility in Hamburg-Hausbruch on more than 14,000 m² of operating space. Synthetic fibers such as Dyneema/HMPE, polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, aramid, Vectran and Technora are used, as well as natural fibers such as hemp, cotton, flax and sisal. Beyond rope manufacturing, the company carries out finishing and rigging work, including splicing, playground nets and rope bridges, and operates its own development department with a testing laboratory for custom special productions. Customers include, among others, Spidercam, Hamburger SV, the sailors Melwin Fink and Lennart Burke, and the Next Generation Sailing Team.
