About us

The PHW Group (LOHMANN & Co. AG) is a third-generation family company headquartered in Visbek-Rechterfeld (Lower Saxony). From a land trading business with a hatchery registered in 1932, a corporate group of more than 45 subsidiaries at over 40 locations in Europe has grown. The core business is vertical poultry integration under the WIESENHOF brand: own parent stock flocks, hatcheries, feed production through MEGA Tierernährung, slaughter and processing operations, and frozen logistics. In addition to poultry, the value chain includes the processing of slaughter by-products into oils, fats and meals (GePro), pet food production (PetCom) and contract manufacturing of dietary supplements. Since 2018, the group has been building the business field of alternative protein sources, including plant-based products and partnerships in the field of Cultivated Meat. Customers are food retail, foodservice and gastronomy in Germany as well as European markets; own facilities exist in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Bulgaria.

Quality and Sustainability

The PHW headquarters is certified according to the ZNU standard for sustainable business management; the Dutch subsidiary Esbro received the same certification in 2022. A central laboratory opened in Lohne in 2017 conducts microbiology and residue analysis.
