Engineering and manufacturing from a single source
LUCAS Instruments GmbH is an owner-managed family business based in Jena, founded in 1990 by former employees of the Zeiss plant. As a full-service provider, the mid-sized company offers design and development of electromechanical components and devices – including hardware, software and mechanics – prototyping, transfer to series production, as well as manufacturing and commissioning from a single source. In addition, LUCAS creates test and commissioning equipment as well as manufacturing and test documentation, accompanies certifications, operates a laboratory for electronics and photonics, and provides support with product defects, component obsolescence and re-engineering. Through its affiliated PCB manufacturing (LUCAS-PCB), the company offers a complete PCB service, as well as lighting design, procurement, logistics, and service and repair. Customers come from medical technology, automotive, scientific instrument engineering, optics/photonics, recycling and other industries. Since 2022, LUCAS has been working in a modern new building in the Jena Technology and Research Center and is an active partner in regional and national research projects such as KODIAK, AMI-Rubin and MikroGraph.
