The Lüneburger Eisenhandlung W.L. Schröder GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1865 as an ironware business and is today run as a family company in its sixth generation. At its headquarters on Pulverweg in Lüneburg, the company combines six areas of expertise: Bathroom Center, Heating & Energy, Trades, Steelworks, Garden & Outdoor as well as Doors & Gates. At the steelworks, bar steel, profiles, tubes and sheets are stocked and further processing such as sawing and drilling is carried out; welding according to DIN EN 1090, bending of rebar (Ø 8–28 mm), hot-dip galvanizing according to DIN EN ISO 1461 as well as blasting and priming are performed by certified partners. Construction steel and reinforcement including rebar mats according to DIN 488 are stocked at the second location on Bessemerstraße, with installation handled by partner tying crews. In addition to the steel business, the company operates an 1,800 m² premium bathroom showroom with 3D bathroom planning and a specialist tool retail business. Customers include construction companies, trade businesses, metal processing companies, industry, the public sector and private customers. Delivery is also carried out with the company's own crane truck.
