About M&D Flugzeugbau
M&D Flugzeugbau GmbH & Co. KG, based in Friedeburg (Lower Saxony), is a development, supplier and production company with core competence in lightweight construction based on glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CRP). Founded in 1995 by Tim and Rinelde Markwald as a maintenance company for gliders and small aircraft, the company today develops and manufactures gliders and motor gliders (including the JS-MD Single, Samburo), jet engines and engine components (MD-TJ42, PSR-T01) as well as electric propulsion systems, and offers plastic components manufactured to individual customer requirements. The range of services also includes maintenance, repairs, modifications and STC conversions, painting, and an EASA-approved Combined Airworthiness Organisation (CAO) with a supervised environment. Owing to its competences in lightweight construction, development and aerodynamics, the company received enquiries from the wind power and energy sector from the 2000s onwards; contract manufacturing for industrial customers was spun off in 2015 into the subsidiary M&D Composites. Pilots work on aircraft at the company, which shapes the aviation-typical demands for precision and reliability.

History
- 1995
Founded as a pure maintenance company for gliders and small aircraft by Tim and Rinelde Markwald (at that time Rinelde Doden, née).
- 2000er
With the boom in wind power, increasing enquiries come from the energy sector due to the competences in lightweight construction, development and aerodynamics.
- 2015
Outsourcing of contract manufacturing for industrial customers to M&D Composites, allowing M&D Flugzeugbau to concentrate on its core business.
