About maakwi
maakwi is the MACHERcampus for Energy & Environment in Heek in the western Münsterland region. The name derives from the Westphalian dialect: “maak wi” – let's do it. The campus sees itself as an incubator for new businesses: inventors, students, small companies and startups in the fields of energy and environment receive office and workshop space here, advice on company formation and, where required, investments from business angels. The 2,700 m² site offers a workshop hall for prototype and small-batch manufacturing including space and machinery rental, co-working areas and office workstations. The energy and environmental focus is also reflected in the campus infrastructure with photovoltaics, a combined heat and power unit, green roofing and rainwater infiltration. In addition, maakwi hosts the maakwi-connect networking evenings on topics such as AI in sales, the digital supply chain and cybersecurity, promotes knowledge transfer with universities through bachelor's and master's theses, and supports the establishment of innovative companies in the region.
