About Magnetic Sense
Magnetic Sense GmbH, based in Unterensingen (Baden-Württemberg), develops custom sensor solutions for the contactless measurement of torque and force. The sensors operate on the basis of the active magnetostrictive principle: an active magnetic field detects changes in the microstructure of a ferromagnetic component without magnetizing the measuring point or requiring mechanical contact. The product range includes torque sensors for shafts as well as force sensors for capturing tensile and compressive forces, which can resolve force vectors individually. Planar, PCB-based coils, an integrated magnetic return path and evaluation electronics result in a particularly compact sensor that can be easily integrated into existing assembly processes – without upstream or downstream machining steps. Depending on the dimensioning of the customer's measurement shaft, a single sensor type can be used for different measuring ranges. Customer industries are Micro Mobility (e-bike/pedelec), automotive, industry/robotics and off-highway.

Technology and Material Requirements
Active magnetostrictive measuring principle
Contactlessly captures changes in magnetic interactions in components by means of an active magnetic field and is insensitive to external influences.
Ferromagnetic material
The active measuring principle requires a ferromagnetic material at the measuring point; magnetizing the measuring point is not necessary.
