About MAGNOTHERM
MAGNOTHERM is a technology company founded in 2019 and based in Darmstadt that develops and sells magnetocaloric cooling systems. The technology replaces refrigerant gases with magnetically activated materials: metal is heated or cooled by magnetization, and the oil-free cooling circuit operates below 1 bar, placing it outside the scope of EN 378 regulations. The company offers three product platforms: STELLAR (over 125 kW, with superconductors for high-performance applications), ECLIPSE (1 kW, permanent magnet system, designed as a plug-in solution for retail applications) and POLARIS (100 W, the world's first commercially available magnetic cooler). The systems are low-maintenance, require no certified specialists for servicing and, according to the company, achieve up to 30% higher cycle efficiency than alternatives through recovery of work energy in rotational sequence. Fields of application include retail food refrigeration, building cooling as well as data centers and server farms. The engineering design follows a Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy for the circular economy.
