About Manufaktur Wasserblau
Manufaktur Wasserblau produces individual designer luminaires and lighting systems in a manufactory in Wörthsee (Etterschlag) near Munich. The origin was a 2009 collaboration between an interior architect and a master electrician; in 2010, in-house development and manufacturing of luminaires began. The portfolio includes individual luminaires (including ATRIA, TAURUS, LIBRA, NUNKI, LEONIS) as well as lighting systems (PEGASUS, LUNA, GALAXIE, LUNA reflectors) and decorative objects of the NOVA series. Production is largely by hand from solid sheet steel, copper sheet, aluminium and stainless steel; sheets are laser-cut, welded, ground and polished in-house. Surface finishing includes powder coating, leaf gilding (imitation gold leaf applied using the water gilding technique) and acid patination of copper. In-house LED retrofit modules (LR50, LR111) and a Loxone dimmer for smart home integration complete the technology. In addition to series products, custom luminaires are made for hotels, municipalities and private customers; the range of services includes lighting consultancy, lighting design, specialist planning, installation and electrical work. Exclusive distribution is handled by Licht, Raum & Trakis GbR in Mammendorf.

Materials and Processes
Solid sheet steel
Base material for luminaire bodies, e.g. of the ATRIA family, produced by sheet metal working and forming.
Aluminium
Turned luminaire heads (NUNKI) and inner baffles; also aluminium composite panels with a recycled plastic core (PEGASUS).
Copper sheet
For custom designs, including acid-patinated wall luminaires for the Taufkirchen funeral hall.
Stainless steel
Used in the TAURUS luminaire family and for bright chrome-plated custom designs.
Leaf metal / imitation gold leaf
Brass or bronze alloy (“imitation gold leaf”), applied using the water gilding technique with shellac sealing for reflectors and decoration.
In-house LED retrofit modules
Self-developed, replaceable LED modules in various power levels, beam angles and light colours.
Powder coating
Surface finishing in various colours, also two-tone.
Crystal threads
Decorative elements of the METEOR system for dynamic light reflections.
