Company
Mast-Jägermeister SE is a spirits company based in Wolfenbüttel, now run by the founding family in its fifth generation. Founded in 1878 by Wilhelm Mast as a vinegar factory and distillery, Curt Mast developed in 1934 the Jägermeister recipe—which remains secret to this day—from 56 herbs, blossoms, roots and fruits. The company distils wheat fine distillate as the base spirit, macerates the botanical raw materials and matures the base product for around twelve months in approximately 400 oak barrels at its original site. All bottling takes place at the German plants in Wolfenbüttel-Linden (since 2017, around two thirds of production, one of the largest spirits bottling plants in Europe) and Kamenz (since 1996). With total sales of 117.6 million 0.7-litre bottles in 2025, Jägermeister is sold in 150 countries; around 1,000 employees work for the company worldwide, almost 30% of them outside Germany. Through subsidiaries in the USA, the UK, Czech Republic/Slovakia and Poland as well as six regional offices, the company manages sales and marketing independently.
