About Matsuura Machinery

Matsuura Machinery Corporation is a Japanese machine tool manufacturer based in Fukui, Fukui Prefecture. The company manufactures milling machines as well as vertical and horizontal machining centers, including high-speed, twin-spindle and 5-axis machining centers. Founded in 1935 as a manufacturer and distributor of lathes, Matsuura began producing milling machines in 1957 and automatically controlled milling machines in 1961; from 1964 it added numerically controlled (NC) milling machines, and from 1974 vertical machining centers. By 2015, more than 20,000 machining centers had been delivered. The machines are used in various industries, including aerospace: in 1998, Matsuura machines machined components for the fuel tanks of the Space Shuttle Discovery, reducing their weight by four tons. Internationally, the company is represented by its own sales and service subsidiaries in the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany and Taiwan, as well as a representative office in Shanghai.
