About Matthews International

Matthews International Corporation was founded in 1850 as an engraving workshop in Pittsburgh and is today a publicly listed technology group (Nasdaq: MATW) with approximately 4,700 employees in 15 countries. The Industrial Technologies division – which evolved from the original marking business – designs and manufactures special machinery and production systems for demanding, continuous industrial manufacturing processes, in particular for coating and finishing (Coating & Converting) as well as battery manufacturing. With the fully operational MEODEO™ demo and test line (1:1), Matthews Engineering offers development and test capacity for lithium-ion dry electrodes (DBE), solid-state batteries and ultracapacitors. The portfolio further includes Marking & Coding (printers, inks, print automation software) as well as toolmaking. The German site in Vreden (Saueressig, majority stake since 2008) provides roller refurbishment and precision manufacturing; capacity there was expanded in 2023. Customers come from industries such as energy storage/battery manufacturing, hydrogen, converting/packaging films and consumer goods.
