About Heimatsmühle
The Heimatsmühle in Aalen is a traditional grain mill that has been owned by the Ladenburger family since 1808 and is today operated in the sixth generation. The company mills wheat, spelt, rye, emmer, einkorn, forest cluster rye, oats, barley, buckwheat, maize and rice into flours of all types as well as flakes, grists, semolinas, germs and brans. The range is complemented by seeds such as poppy seeds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, linseed, sesame and black cumin. For industrial customers, wholesalers and the bakery trade, individual blends and recipes are produced in conventional and organic quality; filling ranges from 500-gram bags through 25-kg sacks and big bags to bulk loading, including labelling in the EAN-128 standard. The raw materials come predominantly from farmers in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. For quality assurance, the company maintains its own milling laboratory with farinograph, amylograph, extensograph, NIR and falling-number equipment as well as a test bakery. The site in the upper Kocher valley comprises the mill, administration, a mill shop, its own agriculture and a water turbine for power generation.
