MERKUR SPIELBANKEN operates state-licensed casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony and is part of the family-owned MERKUR GROUP headquartered in East Westphalia. For over 60 years, the MERKUR brand has stood for the “joy of gaming”; since 1974, the group has operated its own gaming venues, currently around 800 across Europe. The casinos offer classic table games such as roulette, black jack and poker at gaming tables as well as modern slot machine gaming, complemented by gastronomy, events and promotions. The first MERKUR SPIELBANK of its own opened in 2014 in Leuna-Günthersdorf; following the acquisition of the WESTSPIEL Group in 2021 and the award of the tender for the Lower Saxony casinos in 2023, the network now comprises locations in three federal states. All venues operate with active player protection, access controls and state supervision.
