Metallhandel Metze e.K. is an independent, owner-managed family business from Sankt Augustin in the Rhineland that has been active in the Cologne/Bonn region for over 30 years. The company specializes in the purchase of non-ferrous metals, ferrous scrap and their alloys and channels more than 40,000 tonnes of metal waste into recycling every year. The purchased metals are analysed, sorted, cut, pressed, shredded and processed for use in industry. The range includes copper, brass, aluminium, zinc, lead, unalloyed ferrous scrap, alloyed steel scrap, cables as well as electric motors and transformers. Copper scrap with a Cu content of 90 to 99.96% is freed from accompanying metals by mechanical sorting and supplied to copper refineries throughout Europe and the Far East. Since 1998 the company has been a certified waste management company; the site is located directly on the A 560 in the Sankt Augustin-Menden Ost industrial estate.

Raw Materials and Processing Methods
Copper
Copper scrap with 90–99.96% Cu content, mechanically freed from accompanying metals and supplied to copper refineries in Europe and the Far East.
Brass
Copper-zinc alloy, corrosion-resistant and highly recyclable, used among other things in construction, sanitary and automotive applications.
Aluminium
Is shredded and melted down; recycling saves around 10 tonnes of CO2 per tonne compared with primary production.
Zinc
Used mainly for corrosion protection of steel and is fully recycled.
Lead / Used Batteries
Used batteries contain lead, plastic and acid, which are transported and reused in an environmentally sound manner.
Ferrous Scrap (unalloyed)
Is sorted, processed and recycled in the smelting furnace into new steel products.
