About Nonlinear Labs

Nonlinear Labs was founded in 2011 by Stephan Schmitt in Berlin and develops digital musical instruments for musicians in live use. The focus is on playability, expressiveness, quality and longevity. The main product is the C15 performance synthesizer, whose parts are predominantly manufactured in Germany or Europe; assembly and testing take place in-house in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The company relies on high-quality materials and components, repairability and later part replacement to upgrade existing instruments. Software and hardware solutions are published as open source where possible, and the firmware is developed further over the long term as part of a sustainability strategy. Production start of the newly developed instrument C25 is scheduled for 2027; its prototypes were shown at Superbooth 2026.
