NOVATEC GmbH Verpackungstechnik, based in Langenhagen, develops and manufactures special machinery, transport and conveyor belt solutions as well as software for the beverage and food industry. The portfolio includes article transport for glass bottles, jars, cans and plastic bottles, container and pallet transport in modular design, packers and unpackers for returnable beverage crates, loaders and unloaders, gripper systems as well as measuring systems for completeness control. The core product is the patented NovaSort for automated sorting of returnable glass bottles using camera technology. In addition to new installations and conversions, the company offers system overhauls, maintenance, analysis and controlling, project engineering and the rental of empty-container sorting systems on a subscription model. Since 2022, Novatec has been operating empty-container sorting at the Hasseröder brewery as an all-inclusive service provider including personnel. The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered at Pferdemarkt in Langenhagen near Hanover.

History
- 1998
Founded by three former Kettner employees (Christoph Sauer, Hans-Peter von Lücken, Günther Habicht) as a mechanical engineering company; the name stands for North German Packaging Technology (Norddeutsche Verpackungstechnik).
- 2008
Entry into empty-container management following an inquiry from the Gilde Brewery in Hanover; the idea of automated sorting and an empty-container sorting center emerges.
- 2010
Christoph Sauer becomes sole owner and managing director.
- 2013
Integration of the in-house developed NovaSort with Recops camera technology into the empty-container sorting of the Gilde Brewery.
- 2021
Filing of the NovaSort patent, which was later granted.
- 2022
Takeover of empty-container sorting at the Hasseröder brewery as an all-inclusive service provider including the system, camera technology and own personnel.
