About NOVUM engineering
NOVUM engineering develops manufacturer-independent solutions for monitoring and technical analysis of large-scale battery storage systems (BESS). Founded in Dresden in 2014, the company supports storage projects from procurement through commissioning to ongoing operation. Its core product is Storage Guard, a monitoring system that analyses operating data down to cell level, provides metrics beyond the BMS, and makes safety- and performance-relevant deviations visible. In addition, NOVUM offers engineering services: supplier qualification, factory and site acceptance tests including KPI checks, cell quality analysis, operating data analysis, technical due diligence, preparation of defect lists and root cause analyses. AI-supported methods identify patterns in large volumes of data, which battery experts interpret in technical terms. Cell chemistries analysed include LFP and NMC. Customers include operators, investors, project developers and utilities such as EVH GmbH, Energy Farming and Energiesysteme Groß (ESG). More than 14 GWh of storage capacity is under contract worldwide, and secured storage investments amount to €3 billion. NOVUM holds 31 international patents.
