About NVL
NVL B.V. & Co. KG, based in Bremen-Vegesack, is the lead company of the Rheinmetall Naval Systems Division and a specialist in the design and construction of technologically complex naval ships and coast guard vessels. The company was founded on 1 October 2021 through the carve-out of the Defence division from Fr. Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG and was acquired by Rheinmetall on 1 March 2026. Shipbuilding takes place at four northern German shipyards in Wolgast (Peene-Werft), Hamburg (Blohm+Voss, Norderwerft) and Wilhelmshaven (Neue Jadewerft) with a total of 13 docks up to 351 metres in length as well as modern shipbuilding and fabrication halls. In addition to newbuildings, the portfolio includes repair, overhaul and modernisation, systems integration of onboard systems, and life-cycle support through NVL Services with worldwide spare parts supply and training. Internationally, NVL is represented with locations in Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Brunei and Singapore. The company is responsible for ongoing procurement programmes of the German Navy, including five corvettes, two operational replenishment tankers and three fleet service boats; it also develops unmanned and autonomous maritime systems (MUM-T).
