About Ökotopia
Ökotopia Handels- und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH was founded in 1980 at the Mehringhof in Berlin-Kreuzberg, initially importing solidarity coffee from Nicaragua in support of small-scale farmers. Today the company's purpose includes wholesale and retail trade in goods of all kinds, the operation of publishing activities as well as the production and refinement of organic coffee, organic tea and organic herbs and the development of innovative beverage products. The refinement and bottling of the products is done by hand at the Berlin headquarters, without the use of chemical additives. The raw materials come from certified organic cultivation; the teas and coffees are grown without pesticides, in some cases in mixed cultivation. Native herbs are sourced regionally wherever possible, for example from certified organic farms in Hesse. The company maintains long-term, direct partnerships with producers worldwide and was awarded "Lichtenberg Company of the Year 2019" in 2019. Managing Director is Franziska Geyer.
